Cold Refuge

Cold Refuge

A stormy evening at Munro Hut, Tasman Peninsula. After walking through snow flurries and biting winds throughout the second day of the Three Capes Track, Munro Hut is a welcome refuge.

The massive decked area in front of the hut offers spectacular views towards Cape Huay. It took me a few goes to capture this image as the squalls would chase me and my equipment back to the shelter of the hut every few minutes. Clumsy skating and sliding to quickly find protection must have been entertaining to other walkers relaxing in the warmth of the hut. A bitterly cold day with warm company and conversation at the finish.
